This one-off textile artwork draws inspiration from the rugged landscape of Keel, Achill Island, County Mayo. The aerial perspective references both vintage and contemporary Ordnance Survey maps, tracing the exposed bog and shifting land patterns—marks of time, weather, and human interaction embedded in the Irish terrain.
Originally created as a watercolour on vintage Irish linen, the piece has been carefully enhanced through hand embroidery and delicate hand beading, adding depth, texture, and a tactile connection to place.
This work was selected for exhibition at the Climate Conference in Ballina, County Mayo (2023), held at the Mary Robinson Centre—highlighting its connection to environmental awareness and the Irish landscape.
Framed and ready to hang, this piece brings a quiet, contemplative presence to an interior, inviting reflection on land, memory, and change.
