Inherited Threads explores ancestry, memory, and the quiet connections that bind us to the land and to one another. Drawing inspiration from vintage family photographs, ancestral stories, and old Ordnance Survey maps, I am mapping the past while connecting to the future.
Each work begins with fragments of fabric and memory, pieced and layered slowly by hand. Using hand embroidery, appliqué, Irish wool, vintage embroidered linens, and repurposed Foxford blankets, I allow the process of stitching to guide the narrative.
The resulting works move between landscape and lineage, preserving traces of love, labour, and belonging. Each piece becomes a meditation on how memory and place endure, stitched gently into the fabric of time.
