"Tread Softly"

– Sold Out

A framed textile art piece inspired by another of the artist's favourite poems by WB Yeats "He Wishes for the Cloths of Heaven".

Turquoise, sea greens and vibrant blue merino wool have been wet felted into a fabric and embellished with gold and turquoise beads. The artist has repurposed Irish tweed, sari silk and wool to create this highly textured and tactile piece of textile art. The colours are very calming and the way the fabric has been hand stitched gives a three dimensional quality.

Because of the way Karena works, no two pieces of art are ever the same so you are receiving a unique artwork.

This artwork would be a beautiful gift for someone who loves poetry or history .

Aedh Wishes for the Cloths of Heaven.

 - 1865-1939

Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.

The piece is framed in a limed wood box frame behind glass. As I am passionate about sustainability, my frames, packaging and wrapping are custom made in Ireland.
