“Hold on Tight” has been inspired by a vintage photograph of my aunts on Enniscrone beach in County Sligo in the 1960’s. I believe we can all relate to this child and /or “mother figure”.
The original piece features hand beading, hand stitching, embroidery using Irish linen on a vintage Foxford woollen blanket. These nostalgic blankets were a staple in our grandparents and our own homes. The iconic blanket was as resilient as the people who owned them -a strong comforting presence that connects me to my childhood.
