Mapping the Land

“Mapping the Land” is a one-of-a-kind textile artwork created using repurposed vintage Foxford blankets, hand-dyed wool, and hand stitching, framed in a solid oak frame.

The composition draws on the visual language of mapping, fields, boundaries, pathways, and shifting terrain translated through colour, texture, and cloth.

Rooted in memory and place, the work reflects the Irish landscape as something lived rather than surveyed, land shaped by labour, inheritance, and time. Each fragment of fabric carries its own history, echoing the layered relationship between people and place.

Through slow, tactile processes, this piece becomes a quiet map of connection, honouring land not as property, but as memory, material, and story.
